Inspired by the Grotesk faces of the 1920s, most directly by Jakob Erbar’s namesake design, FF Instanter was designed to be a dynamic sans. In spite of its carefree liveliness and clear ties to handwriting, FF Instanter is extremely legible, even at very small point sizes. Its 1920s origins show through most noticeably in its capital letters (A, C, N). The family has a distinct and lively character of its own, particularly because of the strokes in the m, n, and r, and asymmetrical strokes in v, w, y that emulate handwritten forms.
